The Storyline

Top-ranked Humber men's volleyball will be looking to make consecutive CCAA podium appearances when the national tournament begins March 25 in Limoillou, Quebec.

The Hawks will open the eight-team tournament against the CMU Blazers (14-4, 1st MCAC) in the quarter-final round. First serve is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Last Time Out

Humber successfully defended its provincial crown, making quick work of the Redeemer Royals in straight sets. Senior Rrezart Sadiku was named the championship MVP while All-Canadian Jake Gomes was named to the all-tournament team.

Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference

The MCAC is the governing body for collegiate athletics in Manitoba. It was founded in 2007 as the successor to the Central Plains Athletic Conference (CPAC). As a new CCAA member conference, the MCAC will be making its first national championship appearance this season.

Humber has been to the big dance nine times, reaching the final four on five occasions.

Fast Start

Since 2011, the Hawks have opened the tournament with a win three times in five appearances.

National Dominance

The Alberta Conference (ACAC) leads the nation with 21 CCAA titles, followed by the RSEQ (13), and the OCAA and PACWEST (4).

Hardware

As the OCAA Player of the Year, Joshua Fadare is in the running to join Terrel Bramwell (2012) as just the second player in program history to earn national player of the year honours. The CCAA will announce award winners on March 24, and Fadare will receive his All-Canadian award before the match.

Streaking

The OCAA has reached the national podium in three straight seasons.
