The storyline

The two highest-ranked programs in the conference will go head-to-head Wednesday when No. 2 Humber men's volleyball welcomes the No. 9 Redeemer Royals to the North Campus Gym.

First serve is set for 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

The matchup

The Hawks have won six straight meetings against the Royals and are 16-4 all-time at home.

Last time out

The Hawks cruised to a straight-set sweep of No. 14 Sheridan on Feb. 13, earning their second victory of the season. Johsua Fadare led the squad with 19 points, while senior Rrezart Sadiku followed close behind with 15 points of his own. Jaskarn Kalsi finished with a career-high five blocks, while rookie setter Matheus Bahlis recorded her first career OCAA assists.

Scouting Redeemer
  • The Royals are led by Brett Jenkins, who sits eighth in the league with 26 points through two matches.
  • Starting the season with wins over Cambrian and Boreal, Redeemer enters week two as the ninth-ranked program in the CCAA.
  • The Royals won back-to-back OCAA bronze medals in 2018 and 2019.
Rankings

After a fast start to begin the season, the Hawks moved up to the second spot in the CCAA national rankings. With the win over Sheridan, the Hawks are 1-0 against ranked opponents this season.

Ace up his sleeve

Setter Jake Gomes became just the second player in program history to record 100-plus career aces. Gomes needs 17 more aces to pass Humber legend Terrel Bramwell for most in program history, and 20 more aces to move into the top-five in OCAA history.

Alone at the top

Through two matches, Joshua Fadare is first in the league with 38 points, averaging 6.3 points per set.

Round Number

Senior Rrezart Sadiku is 38 points away from 500 career OCAA points (St. Clair 204, Humber 258). Fadare is 15 points away from 200, while Jake Gomes is 67 assists away from 1,200.

At the helm

In his 26th season, head coach Wayne Wilkins owns a 377-123 record - including a 310-77 regular-season record.
