LAST TIME OUT VS REDEEMER

Humber's match in Ancaster against Redeemer in December capped a low swing in the Hawks opening semester. The 3-1 loss (23-25, 25-14, 16-25, 23-25) was the Hawks fourth straight after winning five in a row to start the season. Clayton Blanchette once again led the way, with 18 kills, 1 ace and 4 blocks for a total of 27 points. Alex Gibbs and Oisin Hogan chipped in with double figures, with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Redeemer had four players in double digits, led by Morgan Rutledge and his 17 points.

SCOUTING REDEEMER

  • The Royals and Hawks are in a tie for third, but neither has locked in a post-season berth. An array of teams and possible tiebreakers muddy the waters in the West Division.
  • A quick glance at the team statistics indicates that the Redeemer men somewhat mirror the Redeemer women, as both rank high in blocking and serving categories
  • The Royals boast a very balanced attack, with three players scoring a rate of 3.0 pps, or higher. Mitchell Harris leads the way at 3.4 pps
  •

HAWK NOTES

  • The Hawks, as they have all year, have been led by OCAA scoring leader Clayton Blanchette and his mark of 5.9 points per set average. He is 1.3 pps above his closest competitor.
  • Alex Gibbs has been a solid, if not spectacular hitter in his own right, and owns an average of 3.5 pps
  • Humber also serves tough (1.87 service aces per set – 2nd), and puts the ball away consistently (576 kills – 7th) and kills per set (10.87, 4th)
  • Setter Adam Kinoshita has had a great year, currently ninth in the league with 408 assists and fifth in assists per set (8.68)

RECORD WATCH

  • Clayton Blanchette just eclipsed the 300 point mark in his season, and is on pace to be first or second all-time at Humber.
  • Balnchette has also moved up into the top three all-time at Humber in almost every offensive category
  • Head Coach Wayne Wilkins currently sits in second place of all-time Hawk coaching wins with 312 victories, and only trails the overall leader Mike Katz (318) by nine.
