HAWKS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO FOUR STRAIGHT

ETOBICOKE, Ont – The Humber Hawks men's volleyball (9-4, 3rd West) program extended their win streak to four consecutive matches with a straight set sweep (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) over the Niagara Knights (7-6, 5th West) Thursday evening at the Humber Athletic Centre.

Hawks superstar Clayton Blanchette finished with a match-high 19 points as Humber won their third consecutive match in straight sets and fifth of the season.

After jumping out to a quick lead in the first set, the Hawks found trouble closing out Niagara, as the Knights rallied from a 24-16 deficit before Blanchette's attack went off a Niagara defender to win the match 25-21.

From there the Hawks cruised to an easy 3-0 win after zoning in on Niagara's best offensive threat Jeff Scott.  The Hawks held Scott, a 2015-16 All-Canadian, to 12 points on the night.

Two-sport athlete Andrew Blakey, back after missing two matches, finished with a career-high nine points.  Blakey finished with six kills on six attacks and while recording his first career OCAA service ace.

Third year libero Adam Kinoshita finished with a game-high 33 assists, improving his assist-per-set ratio to 8.54, moving him into sixth place in the OCAA.

It will be a short turnaround for the Hawks as they head to St. Clair (6-6, 7th West) on Saturday, January 28.  First serve is scheduled for 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's match at 1pm.
