Story by Ashleigh Darrach

It was an exciting game for the Humber men's volleyball team and the Boreal Viperes in Subury on January 30.

Humber was heading into the match with a 8-5 record while Boreal stands at 2-12.

The men's team is learning to mesh together and is gaining some on-court chemistry with the various lineups that have been cycled through.

With a few absences this weekend and a few starters out, the Hawks had to improvise and overcome the adversity by working together and stepping up.

During the first set, Humber held Boreal to 19 points by executing on their offense and communicating.

Boreal came back in the second set and pushed the Hawks. Humber missed a few crucial serves at important times throughout the match, but in the last few points managed to pull away.

Momentum shifted after a few big kills on the outside, and the Hawks took the second set with a close score of 25-23.

During the third set Humber started communicating more and passing was better, allowing them to run their offense. Boreal broke down defensively and the Hawks took the third and final set with a score of 25-22.

Humber will play Cambrian tomorrow at Cambrian.
