ETOBICOKE – The Humber Hawks soccer team has announced the signing of winger and two-time Canadian Premier League (CPL) champion Kadell Thomas for the upcoming 2022 OCAA season.

The 25-year-old Brampton native joins the Hawks after appearing in 51 semi-professional matches for Sigma FC of League1 Ontario, where he was named a two-time first-team all-star. Thomas also made 32 professional appearances for Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League, scoring the first goal in team history.

"I love the game. I want to win, and I want to help my new teammates win as well," said Thomas about his new role with the Hawks.

Thomas is no stranger to success in the sport, as he was a crucial part of Forge FC's back-to-back CPL championships in 2019 and 2020. He explained the blissful feeling of being crowned a champion and strives to bestow his winning experiences upon his Humber teammates.

"When you're on the field and that final whistle blows, it's just euphoria. You look around at your teammates and think, wow, we just did that."

Growing up in a family of athletes, Thomas began playing soccer at the young age of four. He was also a talented basketball player but chose to pursue soccer further when he was 14 years old.

"Soccer was more fun. I had more friends that played, and my family was more invested in the game," Thomas said.

Thomas played for Brampton Youth Soccer Club and sharpened his skills with Brampton East Soccer Club, where his talents would be recognized by League1 Ontario. He signed to Sigma FC, where he would spend four years of his young career, citing his time with the club as one of the greatest experiences he has had with the sport.

Thomas' former coach recruited him to join Forge FC in the CPL, where he would play for two years and add professional experience to his athletic resumé.

Thomas had two prior stints in college playing soccer for schools in Kansas and Florida; however, he chose to come back home for school and will be partaking in Humber's computer science and technologies program.

Humber will begin its national title defence on Sept. 10 in an away match against the Fanshawe Falcons. The Hawks' first home game of the season will be a contest against Mohawk on Sept. 21 and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
