The Storyline

Top-ranked Humber men's soccer (8-0-1) will open the 2021 CCAA Championship tournament on Nov. 10 against the Brandon Bobcats (11-2-1). Kick-off is set for noon EST and will be streamed on CCAA Live.

Last Time Out

Humber successfully defended its OCAA title for the third straight season, defeating the George Brown Huskies, 4-0. Leaford Allen was named the championship MVP, while Michael Fayehun earned championship all-tournament honours.

  • The Bobcats are back-to-back MCAC champions, defeating the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in the final, 4-0.
  • Midfielder Diego Rodriquez was named the championship MVP after finishing with two goals and an assist in the finals. His brother Camilo led the league in scoring, finishing with 14 tallies in 12 regular season matches.
  • Brandon enters the tournament with an unbeaten streak of 11 games – 10 wins, one draw.
Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference

The MCAC is the governing body for collegiate athletics in Manitoba. It was founded in 2007 as the successor to the Central Plains Athletic Conference (CPAC). As a new CCAA member conference, the MCAC will be making its first national championship appearance this season.

Dynasty

Humber soccer is the most successful CCAA program in the country, capturing a national-best seven titles – five since 2012.

Prior to Humber's quarter-final match, Luca Gasparotto will receive his CCAA All-Canadian award.

Four-peat

Karman Singh and Marcos Nunes will be looking to capture four national titles for their careers. Only Humber legends Eugenio Garro and Gerardo Magno have accomplished this feat.

Starts with one

The Hawks are 12-1 (.923) all-time in the quarter-final round – including six straight victories.

Leadership

Under head coach Michael Aquino, the Hawks are 14-2 (.875) on the national stage. Humber's only losses with Coach Aquino have come in penalty kicks.

No one better

To no one's surprise, Marcos Nunes is Humber's all-time leader scorer at the big dance. The two-time CCAA championship MVP has recorded nine tallies in nine matches at nationals.
