The Storyline

No. 3 Humber men's basketball will make its 38th consecutive postseason appearance Wednesday evening against Mohawk (3-6, 8th West). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

The Matchup

As the top-seed in the West division, Humber will host the Mountaineers in the divisional round. These two programs have combined for 53 OCAA medals - including 20 provincial titles. In their last postseason meeting, the Hawks beat Mohawk in the 2016 provincial title game, 86-79.

Scouting Mohawk
  • Emanuel Otong led the team in scoring, averaging 16.3 PPG in eight games.
  • Mohawk's 1.019 net efficiency was the eighth-best mark in the league.
  • Head coach Brian Jonker led the Mountaineers to the program's only national title in 2012.
  • The Mountaineers are 5-4 all-time against Humber in the postseason - 0-1 when playing at the North Campus Gym.
Previous Meeting

Humber rolled to season opener victory over Mohawk in February, 101-79. DeQuon Cascart finished with a team-high 22 points while Frank Mitchell finished with 20 rebounds.

Final Farewell

Prior to tip-off, Humber will be recognizing four student-athletes who are competing in their final season for the Hawks:

All-Timer

Fifth-year senior DeQuon Cascart finished in the top-eight in scoring for the first time in his career. He retires third all-time in scoring with 933 points, second in 3-pointers made with 116, and second in free-throws made with 185.

O My

The Coach O era started out with a bang, as Humber was the only program to finish the shortened season without a loss. Humber's high-octane offence led the conference at 96.1 PPG - its second-highest average since 1995.

Playoff Performance
  • The Hawks are 86-28 all-time in the OCAA postseason.
  • Humber is 23-1 all-time in the postseason at home.
  • Humber will be appearing in its 38th consecutive postseason. The last time the Hawks failed to qualify for the playoffs was during the 1982-83 season.
