The Storyline

No. 4 Humber men's basketball (5-0, 1st West) will return to the North Campus Gym for its final homestand of the 2022 regular season, welcoming the Redeemer Royals (4-1, 3rd West) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

The Matchup

The Hawks and Royals will be meeting for the first time this season, with the top spot in the division up for grabs.

Last Time Out

In the 107th edition of "the Game", the Hawks squeezed out a road victory over the Sheridan Bruins (2-3, 6th West), 89-84. In maybe his finest performance for the navy and gold, DeQuon Cascart propelled the Hawks to the win, hitting a clutch 3-pointer to retake the lead with 53 seconds remaining in the game. Kevin Otoo iced the game with three seconds left, knocking down both free throws.

Scouting Redeemer
  • After dropping its first game of the season, Redeemer has fired off four straight victories.
  • Humber won the first 20 meetings between these two programs; however, Redeemer has won four of the last seven games.
  • The Royals are led by fifth-year senior Foster Brown, who is averaging a career-high 19.2 PPG through his first four games.
#22Forever

Prior to tip-off, Humber Athletics will hold a moment of silence for basketball alumnus Kenny Ejim, who passed away last week in Bahrain.

Welcome Back

All Humber fans can now attend varsity home events at the North Campus Gym - at 50 per cent capacity.

Hard Work

Senior captain DeQuon Cascart has left his best season for last. Leading the top program in the conference, the North York native is having a career season for the Hawks, setting new personal bests in points, 3-point percentage, rebounds and assists. After his clutch performance against Sheridan, Cascart's name will now live on in Humber's storied history. Through 73 career games, Cascart now sits alone in third on Humber's career scoring list with 866 points.

Baby Shaq

The country is beginning to take notice of the best rookie in the CCAA. Frank Mitchell has been a beast on the boards for the Hawks, averaging a conference-best 16.2 rebounds-per-game, while recording three double-doubles to begin his career. The Toronto natives rebound-per-40 minutes is a mind-blowing 28.2.

Movin' Up

2018 All-Rookie Kevin Otoo needs just 67 points to become the 23rd player in Humber's history to record 60-plus points.

Fast Break

The Hawks are averaging a league-best 97.4 PPG, hitting the century mark twice this season.

At the Helm

In his first season as bench boss, head coach Omar Miles has led the Hawks to five straight victories to begin his career - the fourth-longest streak for a first-year Humber head coach.
