No. 4 Men's Basketball rolls Fanshawe in Battle of the Birds

ETOBICOKE — The No. 4 Humber men's basketball team continued its dominant play to start the 2022 season, defeating the Fanshawe Falcons (1-1 5th West) Saturday afternoon at the North Campus Gym., 92-69.

Dwayne Lambert-Cadore put together a terrific performance for the Hawks, narrowly missing a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. DeQuon Cascart once again led all Humber scorers with 21 points on the afternoon, while Rashaan Chambers added a career-high 18 of his own. Kevin Otoo rounded out Humber's double-digit scorers with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

It was all Humber in the first quarter as they quickly took a quick double-digit lead. The Hawks put up 31 points in the opening frame as seven different players recorded points. Kevin Otoo and DeQuon Cascart led the way in the quarter combining for 17 points.

With Frank Mitchell in early foul trouble, the Hawks had to lean on a smaller lineup in the second quarter. Rashaan Chambers led all Humber scorers in the frame finishing with seven points while Keith Laryea chipped in with four points off the bench. At the end of two, the Hawks took a 47-34 lead into the break.

Mitchell made his presence felt in the third, putting up six points while grabbing eight rebounds in the quarter. Humber closed out the third strong taking a 19-point lead into the fourth.

The Hawks held Fanshawe to a game-low 15 points in the final quarter as they rolled to the final buzzer taking this one by a score of, 92-69.

  • Ten Humber players recorded at least one point in the victory.
  • Dwayne Lambert-Cadore recorded his first double-double, finishing with career-highs in rebounds (12) and assists (8) in the win.
  • Humber grabbed 24 offensive rebounds in this one, the most in a game since Feb 3, 2019 against Sault. 
  • The Hawks held Fanshawe to its lowest score since Nov. 10, 2018.
  • Humber improves to 54-25 all-time against the Falcons - including 18-2 at home since 1990.
