Brittany Elson curling in the Humber classic

Brittany Elson selected for OCAA Mentorship Program

ETOBICOKE – The Coaches Association of Ontario has selected Humber curling alumna Brittany Elson for its OCAA Mentorship Program for the 2021-22 season. The Program, a joint initiative with the OCAA, provides a streamlined pathway for OCAA transitioning athletes who are looking to develop as a coach.

With her selection, Elson will join newcomer Megan Balsdon on head coach Sean Turriff's staff for the upcoming varsity season.

Elson had a successful playing career for Humber curling, competing for the Hawks from 2016 to 2020. During her four-year career, she captured two OCAA women's titles in 2017 and 2020 and a silver medal in 2019. Elson was also an OCAA first-team all-star in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

In her final season, she led Humber to its third national podium finish, winning the CCAA silver medal and was then named to the all-tournament team. Her successful season ended with the 2020 Germain Sanchez Award of Distinction.

Tryouts for the 2021 curling squad will be invitation-only this season. Any full-time Humber or Guelph-Humber students interested in tryouts can find more information here.
