The storyline
Humber baseball (15-1, 1st OCAA) will conclude the 2022 OCAA regular season Thursday with a doubleheader against the Centennial Colts (11-3, 4th OCAA). First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
Last time out
The Hawks swept the Durham Lords (7-7, 6th OCAA) at Connorvale Park on Oct. 7, extending their win streak to 13 games. Brandon Deans struck out 16 Durham hitters in game two, setting the OCAA single-season record for strikeouts.
Scouting Centennial
- The Colts made a major leap in 2022, completely reversing their record of 3-11 from their inaugural season in 2021.
- Liam Oates has been a true ace for Centennial, leading the league with five wins and a 1.17 ERA in 30 innings of work.
- Brandon Smith has been equally as efficient on the bump, with a 1.30 ERA and 4-0 record.
- When these two teams first met last season, Humber set a new OCAA record, scoring 31 runs. Aidan Murphy tied the OCAA record with five hits, while setting a new league record with nine RBis. Two of Murphy's hits were home runs, including a grand slam.

Thursday will be the final home game for Cam Hibbs, Aidan Murphy, Ian Zwartz, and Corey Vandegraaf.
Pennant race
With a sweep of the Colts, Humber will clinch the third pennant in program history.

Humber's 13-game win streak is the longest regular-season streak in program history and four wins behind its all-time record of 17 straight set in 2018.

Brandon Deans has been dealing all season long, dominating opposing hitters every time he toes the rubber. Deans needs one more win to finish with the most victories in program history.
