The Humber Varsity Committee

Mission

 The Humber Varsity Committee (HVC) acts on behalf of all of the varsity teams to enhance the student-athlete experience by: 

  • promoting social, academic, career and health and wellness opportunities to engage the student-athletes;
  • fostering a positive student-athlete image and engaging in on-campus and local community events;
  • and representing student-athletes voices within Athletics, at College-wide and Conference levels. 
Goals
  • Generate a student-athlete voice at Humber.
  • Improve communication between the athletics department and student-athletes.
  • Represent student-athletes at the institutional and OCAA/CCAA conference levels.
  • Assist in organizing varsity-related events that promote social, academic, career and physical well-being.
  • Solicit student-athlete feedback about varsity events, issues, or policies and procedures.
  • Promote an atmosphere of inclusivity and respect among all athletes.
  • Promote sports-person-ship when representing Humber/Guelph-Humber.
Committee Membership
  • Each team will have a representative on the committee.
  • Each representative will be recommended by the coaches, varsity academic coordinators or by their team.
Responsibilities 
  • Each member will serve as a liaison, participating in monthly meetings and disseminating information to their team.
  • Organize varsity engagement initiatives to promote leadership and development opportunities.
  • Provide feedback and insight into athletics department projects and issues.
  • Be an integral component in building an inclusive and respectful Hawk Family comprising of the Athletic Department and all varsity teams.
  • Represent and promote a positive student-athlete image on and off campus.
