Humber Athletics Unveils Bell Let’s Talk 2022 Campaign

ETOBICOKE – When it comes to mental health, now more than ever, every action counts. Beginning January 24, Humber Athletics will be rolling out new mental health initiatives, leading up to Bell Let's Talk Day on January 26.

Most students enrolled in Canadian post-secondary institutions are age 24 or under, the demographic most susceptible to developing mental health issues: 75 per cent of people with a mental illness were first diagnosed by the age of 24.

January 24 – Yoga and Reflection | 6:00 p.m.

Many of us face daily demands and overwhelming difficulties that cause feelings of stress and anxiety. This event will include an open discussion surrounding mental health, the sharing of important resources and a gentle yoga session. Pre-registration is not required.

January 24 – The Mental Health Impact of the Pandemic - 7:00 p.m.

A webinar on mental health impact of the pandemic with added layers for student-athletes is a free online event for CCAA student-athletes. The keynote speaker for the event Jhanelle Peters, Registered Pysychotherapist and Mental Health Clinician for the Toronto Raptors.

January 25 – Mental Health Trivia Night | 7:00 p.m.

Join us for a 45 minute Kahoot! Trivia game based on facts, statistics and information about mental health and wellness.  The information has been collected from mostly Canadian sources and will provide a fun learning opportunity for participants as well as a chance to connect virtually with others. Mental Health themed prize packs will be awarded to the top 3 participants.

For this program, it is suggested that participants have access to at least 2 devices – a screen for zoom/chat and a phone for answering the trivia questions.

January 26 – Bell Let's Talk Day

On Bell Let's Talk Day, Canadians everywhere will join in the global mental health conversation. You can use a wide range of communications platforms to join in – and directly drive Bell's donations to Canadian mental health programs simply by participating.

On Bell Let's Talk Day, Bell donates 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs for every applicable text, local or long-distance call, tweet or TikTok video using #BellLetsTalk, every Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube view of the Bell Let's Talk Day video, and every use of the Bell Let's Talk Facebook frame or Snapchat filter. All at no cost to participants beyond what they would normally pay their service provider for online or phone access.
