Lakeshore Feature - Nefertiti Aida
This Lakeshore Feature is last year’s Rookie of the Year, Nefertiti Aida!
Nefi is currently in her fourth year of the film and media production program. She has been a great addition to the Lakeshore extramural powerlifting team, reaching the podium and breaking personal records.
She loves the colour purple and is always up for a good taco. She loves the summer and is a fan of the series MTC The Challenge and the Avatar movie. Her favourite athlete is Simone Biles.
For Nefi, extramurals is a great way to get involved with the Humber Athletics community. Her favourite memory is “the first Powerlifting mock meet, everyone was really excited and was cheering each other on is such an intense way even though we were just practicing for the meet”.
Her tip for new students is “to get involved with all that Humber has to offer in your interest, or even something you never thought you would be doing because I never thought that I would be on a powerlifting team, and here we are, rookie of the year. As for personal learning I find writing out a list of all of the things that I need to do helps, online learning at times feels optional, by writing the lists I have something tangible to look at and it makes it easier to handle”.
