Murphy, McCallum Earn Humber Student-Athlete of the Week Honours

Golfer Hayley McCallum and baseball infielder Aidan Murphy have earned Humber Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honours for the week of Sept. 20-26.

On September 22, Hayley McCallum became just the sixth female golfer in OCAA history to successfully defend her individual title. On the final day at Crimson Ridge Golf Course in Sault Ste. Marie, McCallum tied her career OCAA low-round with a four-over-par (76) to win the 54-hole event by seven strokes. She was also named a CCAA All-Canadian for the third time, joining Bev Peel and Shauna Wilde as the only players in program history to complete the feat.

McCallum's individual title also helped the Hawks capture their third team title in four years. For McCallum, its her third Humber AOTW selection of her career.

Aidan Murphy put together one of the best weeks in OCAA baseball's history, leading Humber's offence as the Hawks scored 48 runs in three games. Murphy finished the three-game road trip with eight hits, five extra-base hits - including two home runs - and 11 runs batted in. He slashed a combined .889/.923/1.667 as Humber improved to 5-0 on the young season.

In Humber's 31-4 victory over Centennial, Murphy finished 5-for-5 at the dish with two home runs, including a grand slam. His five hits tied an OCAA record, while his nine RBIs broke former Humber slugger Brian MacDonald's OCAA record from 2014.

Through five games, Murphy owns a .706 batting average and a scorching 2.279 on-base plus slugging mark.
