Bio

For more than three decades, Doug Fox was the face of Humber Athletics. Named the University of Toronto's Basketball Athlete of the Decade for the 1970s, Fox first came to Humber in 1978 to coach men's basketball. He was hired full-time in 1979 to oversee the new Humber Athletic Centre and then went on to become one of the most successful athletic directors in the country.

He was the OCAA men's basketball senior convenor in the mid-1980s and spent time on both the OCAA and CCAA executive committees, serving as OCAA president from 1995 to 1997, and CCAA president from 2006 to 2008. He was a key contributor to unifying eligibility and academic rules nationwide and successfully saw the five-year eligibility rule come into being.

During his time at Humber, its varsity program grew from five teams up to 20, winning the most national and provincial titles under his leadership. Doug was named the CCAA athletic director of the year in 2002 when the Hawks captured three national and ten provincial medals during the 2001-02 season.

He retired as Humber's athletic director in 2013 and was inducted into the Humber and Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame that year. In 2015, he was inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame in the builder category.
