HAWKS MEN AND WOMEN JUST SHY OF OF PODIUM AT SENECA INVITATIONAL

Recap by Dani Dupuis

KING CITY, Ont: Coming off of a very tough week of training, the Hawks Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were able to walk away from today's race with their heads held high. Saturday September 29, at Seneca King Campus, hosted by Seneca College, both men's and women's teams finished fourth overall. With one more invitational to go before the OCAA Championships.

Going into today's race the Hawks approach was simple – go out and run. It was easy for the Hawks to prepare themselves because they knew want to expect from this course, from racing it in previous years. Unlike the Fanshawe course, where it is completely flat, Seneca includes one of the toughest hills that cross country runners will have to face.

During the women's race, Kaitlin Shuvera Team MVP from last season, picked off runner – by – runner, to secure herself a comfortable spot in the top 10 range. Kayleigh Bush was next to cross the finish line for the Hawks, and quickly after that was Kaitlyn Morgan, following Ana Jaimes, Patricia Rothenburg and Sue Yemen.

For the men's race it's a whole different story and for Peter Wilson, first year on the Hawks team, this race was one of his best performances. Mentioned earlier, this course is very different compared to other courses in the OCAA. Cole Czuchinicki was the first Hawk to cross the finish line, to finish in the top 10 range. Followed by Peter Wilson and Aaron Veenstra just finishing seconds apart from one another. Graiden Maynard wasn't far behind, and from him neither was Chris Tomlison, Zac Nixon and Mohammed Mundir.

Next weekend the Hawks Cross Country team will be taking a much needed break, as they relax for the Thanksgiving weekend. The next race for the Hawks will take place Saturday, October 13 at Centennial College.
