No. 15 Women's Volleyball Sweeps Redeemer, 3-0

ETOBICOKE - No. 15 women's volleyball finished off their second last game of the regular season with an energetic sweep against the Redeemer Royals (8-10, 6th West) on Feb 13. The final scores were 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19.

Humber kept a solid rhythm going as they entered the first and second sets of the night, taking quick leads over the Royals. Service runs by Lauren Schneider and blocks by Shiann Williams added to the Hawks momentum, as they refused to drop the lead once. Hannah Petcoff and Julia Watson were forces from the outside, nailing down aggressive kills that cemented the Hawks victories at 25-21 and 25-12.

The Hawks continued to play hard as they went into the final set, with Redeemer ready to compete for a fourth. Kills by Julia Watson and Alex Krstonosic left the Royals defence stunned on their heels, putting the Hawks at a 10-4 lead. Humber was unstoppable as big swings by Cassidy Andrews extended the team into a nine-point advantage. Lauren Schneider brought the Hawks to game point from the service line, while Danielle Miles finished off the game at 25-19 with a swipe off the block.

Alex Krstonosic was the lead scorer for the Hawks, earning nine kills, three aces and a block. Second-year Hayley Henderson earned Hawk Nation player of the game after earning nine kills and five digs.

  • Third-year Alex Bartmann brought her assist total up to 1054 after earning 18 dimes in the game.
  • The Hawks continue a 30-0 all-time record against the Royals after the sweep.
