Women's Volleyball Makes Quick Work of Boréal

SUDBURY - Humber women's volleyball (12-3, 3rd West) locked down another win after defeating the Boréal Viperès (0-15, 10th West) in straight sets. The final set scores were 25-8, 25-18, and 25-5.

Starting off on the right foot, service runs by Hayley Henderson and Shiann Williams gave the Hawks strong leads in the first two sets against the Viperès. Huge swings by Megan Hunt and Alexandria Dube left no room for the Viperès to defend, as Humber refused to drop the lead. Defensive plays by Danae Campana maintained the Hawks' control over the court as Humber flew into swift victories of 25-8 and 25-18.

Freshman Alexandria Dube continued the Hawks' momentum as they entered the final set, with a seven-point service run that established a solid lead for Humber. Staying disciplined throughout the game, the Hawks managed a ten-point lead over Boréal. Hayley Henderson kept the Hawks on a roll, breaking down the Viperès defence with multiple kills. Hannah Petcoff and Danae Campana helped certify the gigantic victory with huge service runs, ending the game at 25-5.

Hayley Henderson was the lead scorer for the Hawks, earning eight kills and three digs. Megan Hunt followed behind with five kills, two digs and an ace.

Humber Highlights

  • Second-year Lauren Schneider racked up 30 dimes throughout the sweep, tying her career-high achieved in their recent game against Conestoga.
  • Freshman Libero Alex LaChapelle remains second in the league with 217 total digs on an average of 4.25 each set.
  • The Hawks improve to 25-0 all-time against the Boréal Viperès with this win.

What's Next?
Humber women's volleyball will play its final road match of the season Feb. 9 when they take on the Cambrian Golden Shields (3-11, 8th West). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
