WINDSOR – Humber women's volleyball (4-2, 5th West) concluded its weekend road trip with two wins under their belt, after defeating No. 14 St. Clair (5-2, 3rd West) in four sets. The Hawks rallied from behind for set scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23.
Both teams came ready to play as they hit the court in the first set at the St. Clair Sportsplex, competing for the lead from the first serve. Remaining within two points of each other throughout the majority of the set, there was no room for error. Outside Cassidy Andrews pulled the Hawks into the lead after forcing multiple kills down the line, pushing the Saints into the game's first timeout. The freshman repeated this as soon as they reentered the court, nailing down another kill and forcing St. Clair to take another break. Out of timeouts, St. Clair began to push against the Hawks with a few kills of their own, tying up the score at 24-24 and making Humber coach Chris Wilkins call double timeouts. Coming onto the court, the Hawks fought hard, but came just short to St. Clair, 24-26.
The Hawks were determined to take control over the game as they entered the second and third sets, getting straight to work with back-to-back aces by starter Julia Watson. Alex Bartmann added on with a service run of her own, pushing Humber into early advantages. St. Clair remained within a points' reach throughout both sets, forcing Humber to play disciplined and aggressive. Kills by Cassidy Andrews continued to keep the pressure on St. Clair, as the Hawks began to create more distance nearing the final points of the sets. Shiann Williams earned the final points in both sets, finishing the second set off with a block at 25-21 and the third set off with a kill at 25-22.
The crowd began to heat up, as the fourth set quickly escalated as the teams climbed the scoreboard. Playing with the same amount of energy as in the first set, the Hawks displayed their determination and athleticism. St. Clair did the same, as Humber began to fall behind and call a timeout at 13-16. Returning to the court, freshman Megan Hunt took control of the net with back to back kills. Fired up, Julia Watson nailed down a kill of her own, draining momentum from the Saints with a solid 22-19 lead. Humber maintained their pressure on the Saints court, getting a block by Alex Bartmann and Shiann Williams to win the set, 25-23.
Julia Watson led the Hawks with 13 kills and two aces, while middle Shiann Williams followed behind with seven kills, four blocks, and an ace.
Humber Highlights
- With this win, the Hawks boast a 33-11 record over the St. Clair Saints.
- Third-year Alex Bartmann finished with a season-high record of 44 assists in this match, eclipsing the 800 career mark.
- Middle Shiann Williams continues to dominate the OCAA, ranking first in total blocks, at 28, and blocks per set, at 1.4.

The Hawks return home this week as they prepare for a two-match weekend starting with the Cambrian Golden Shield (2-5, 7th West) on Nov 30, at 6 pm. The game will be streamed live on the Hawk Sports Network.
