No. 11 Women's Soccer Beats Sault to Begin Postseason Play
VAUGHAN – No. 11 Humber women's soccer (7-1-2) began its OCAA title run in dominant fashion, rolling past the Sault Cougars (2-6-1) in OCAA cross-over action Saturday, 13-0.
Giulia Zanardi led Humber's offensive onslaught, recording her first career postseason hat trick. Breanna Senfner, Catarina Medeiros, and Sophia Inglese added two goals, each.
With a five-goal lead after the break, the Hawks added another five goals in a ten-minute span.
Humber Highlights
- Humber's 13 goals are a new program record, surpassing its previous record from 2000 when they beat St. Lawrence, 7-0.
- Giulia Zanardi became just the third Humber player to record a hat trick, joining Allison Read (2000) and Joanna Vitale (1999, 2000) as they only players to complete the feat. Zanardi now sits tied for fourth with eight postseason tallies.
- Vanessa Fiore recorded her sixth career postseason clean sheet, tying assistant coach Kat Conde for second-most in program history. Fiore needs one more shutout to move into a tie for first with Rose Mary Ormeno (2008-10).
- The Hawks improve to 17-1 at home in the postseason and 5-0 in the crossover round.
- Humber qualified for its 14th consecutive Final Eight tournament.
