Women's Soccer Rolls to Fourth Straight Win

VAUGHAN – Humber women's soccer (4-1-1, 2nd West) extended its win streak to four with a win over Redeemer (0-5-0, 10th West) Wednesday evening, 4-0.

All-star Giulia Zanardi led the way for Humber, recording two tallies – including a penalty kick, while Lily Campbell took the team lead with her sixth goal of the season.

Campbell recorded the game-winner in the ninth minute off of a corner kick, flipping the ball to the top corner by Redeemer keeper Lily Brown.

Less than five minutes later Campbell found a streaking Zanardi down the seam, making no mistake for her second tally of the season.

After the break, Breanna Senfner was taken down in the box, awarding Humber the penalty kick. Zanardi converted on the shot, increasing Humber's lead to three after 47 minutes of play.

Moments later, Claudia Piazza made a nice through pass to Senfner, whose quick touch pass split two Redeemer defenders, cleared Alyah Spence for a breakaway. Spence made no mistake, chipping the ball over Brown as she slid to attempt the save.

Humber Highlights

  • Lily Campbell's six goals are tied for the most in the league.
  • Vanessa Fiore recorded her 28th regular-season win and 18th clean sheet.
  • Zanardi now sits alone in fourth on Humber's all-time scoring list with 29 goals (regular and postseason).
