WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER ADVANCES TO OCAA FINAL FOUR

VAUGHAN, Ont – Humber women's soccer escaped round-robin play Thursday, finishing the day unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record. The Hawks were led offensively by all-star Giulia Zanardi, who recorded a tally in the game.

Humber opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against George Brown, getting on the board early with a Zanardi goal in the opening half. The Huskies were able to respond and tie the game, recording the only in-play goal against keeper Vanessa Fiore this indoor season.

Behind goals from Zanardi and Breanna Senfner, the Hawks picked up their first win of the tournament, defeating Fanshawe, 2-1. The Falcons' lone goal came on a converted penalty in the second half.

Needing a win to lock up the top seed in pool play, Humber beat Sheridan 3-0 in game three, receiving goals from Zanardi, Shaniece Bennett, and Claudia Piazza. Fiore recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season.

Humber will face Mohawk Mar. 22 in the semifinals, with kickoff scheduled for 10 a.m. The match will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
