Women's Rugby 7's Finish Fourth at 2019 OCAA Championship

BELLEVILLE – Humber rugby sevens concluded the 2019 season Saturday, finishing fourth at the OCAA Championship, hosted by Loyalist College.

In a rematch of the 2018 title game, the Hawks faced Algonquin the semifinal. The Thunder dominated the first half, playing most of the frame in the offensive end. With time running out, Cheyenne De Luca took a pass from Alicia Hayes for a long try to tie the game at five.

Algonquin retook the lead with another try from Sydney Seymour, who kicked the convert for a seven-point lead. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, De Luca scored another long try. Needing another score with little time remaining, Algonquin capitalized on Humber's aggressiveness, scoring two tries to end the game, 24-10.

Relegated to the bronze medal match for the first time in program history, the Hawks could not match the energy of the Seneca Sting, falling 32-12.

Cheyenne De Luca was named to the all-tournament team.
