BELLEVILLE – Humber rugby sevens (12-2, 1st West) returns to the pitch Nov. 2, looking to defend its provincial title. The Hawks enter the tournament as the top team from the west division and the first overall seed.
About Humber
The Hawks own a 60-6 (.910) record since rugby sevens were introduced to the OCAA in 2016. After winning the inaugural title that season, Humber recaptured the crown last season with a win over Algonquin.
The Tournament
After locking up the top-seed, the Hawks clinched a bye to the semifinal round. Humber will open the tournament at 11:30 a.m. and will play the winner of the Algonquin/Conestoga quarter-final matchup.
The End of an Era
Humber legends Christina Branch and Cheyenne De Luca will don the blue and gold in OCAA action for the final time in their career. Humber's dynamic duo will finish one-two on the OCAA's all-time scoring list and with 11 combined OCAA scoring records.
At the Helm
Now in his seventh season as head coach, Dale Essue has led the Hawks to a 2014 Rugby 15's title and two rugby 7's titles. All-time Coach Essue owns a 81-9 (.900) record.
