Records Fall As Rugby Sevens Conclude Regular Season

TORONTO – Humber rugby sevens (12-2, 1st West) clinched a first-round bye in the 2019 postseason, finishing its final tournament with a 2-1 record. Humber's 52-0 win over Conestoga ties its OCAA record for points in a game.

The headlines on the day were Humber's dynamic senior duo, Christina Branch and Cheyenne De Luca. Playing in their final regular-season tournament, the seniors cemented their legacies as two of the best to ever play in the OCAA.

Oshawa native Christina Branch finished with a team-high 40 points, becoming the first player in league history to score 500-plus career points. The 2017 scoring champion will end her career first all-time in scoring (535), first in career conversions (105), most points in a season (180), most converts in a season (40), most points in a game (30), and most converts in a game (6).

Cheyenne De Luca secured the scoring title for the second straight season, smashing her career-high of 111 points from last season. The Toronto native finished with 168 points, finishing with 31 tries and breaking Michaela Knowles' record of 26 from 2016. De Luca finishes her career as the only two-time scoring champion in league history, second in career scoring (389), first in career tries (74), most tries in a season (31), and most tries in a game (5).
