OAKVILLE, Ont -- Humber rugby sevens (13-1, 1st West) returns to the pitch Saturday, looking to return back to the top of the OCAA. The Hawks enter the tournament as the top team from the west division and the second overall seed.

About Humber
The Hawks own a 46-4 (.920) record since rugby sevens were introduced to the OCAA in 2016. After winning the inaugural championship that year, Humber went 17-1 and captured the silver medal in 2017.

The Matchup
As the top seed in the west, Humber received an automatic bye into the semifinal round and will await the winner of the Sheridan/Loyalist quarter-final.

Humber finished the season with a 3-0 record against the Bruins (4-10, 3rd West), outscoring Sheridan 102-0. In the inaugural crossover tournament, the Hawks cruised to 43-0 victory over Loyalist (8-4, 2nd East).

The Competition
Algonquin (12-0, 1st East) earned the top seed in the tournament. The Thunder gave the Hawks their only loss of the season, 10-7. The Hawks trailed for the entire match, unable to generate any momentum against the size and speed of Algonquin. Christina Branch scored on the final play of the match to prevent the shutout.

All-Timers
Christina Branch added to her OCAA career scoring record and now sits with 374 points through three seasons. Cheyenne De Luca - the 2018 scoring champion – jumped into third all-time with 221 points.

At the Helm
Now in his sixth season as head coach, Dale Essue led the Hawks to 2014 rugby 15's title and 2016 rugby 7's title. All-time, Coach Essue owns a 67-7 (.905) record.
