Humber Men’s Soccer Selected to Represent Canada at 2020 FISU America

ETOBICOKE --- The Humber men's soccer program has been selected to represent Canada in the FISU (International University Sports Federation) America Games in Mérida, Mexico, May 31 through June 10, 2020. The Games will have 2,000 competing athletes and 20-25 participating countries.

"It's an honour to represent Canada at the FISU games," said head coach Michael Aquino. "The event will be a great challenge, but I am confident our Humber squad will be great ambassadors for our country, while also competing at the highest level."

The FISU America Games are a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Alternating with the Summer and Winter Universiades, which invite all the countries of the world for the biennial events, the FISU America Games are a regional multi-sport event similar to the Pan-American Games for FISU member-countries of North and South America held in even-numbered years.

Humber has been the home of the top collegiate men's soccer program in the country over the last eight years, capturing five CCAA national titles and six OCAA provincial gold medals during that span.

In 2018, the University of Washington Huskies (NCAA D-I) captured the inaugural event with a 1-0 win over Brazil.

More details will be released in the coming months when all participating teams have confirmed and the draw is released. Stay tuned to humberhawks.ca for details.
