SHORTHANDED No. 4 MEN'S SOCCER BATTLE No. 14 SHERIDAN TO 2-2 DRAW

VAUGHAN, Ont – The No. 4 Humber men's soccer team (5-1-1, 2nd Central) battled No. 14 Sheridan (4-0-3, 3rd Central) to a 2-2 draw Wednesday afternoon at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Billed as the top rivalry in OCAA soccer, the Humber/Sheridan match lived up to the hype.

The Bruins struck first scoring ten minutes into the match when Sheldon Rodgers scored from a tough angle to give the Bruins the early lead.

Humber countered in the 27th minute when a corner kick from Federico Leal found the boot of Jaineil Hoilett, who made a nice back-heel shot to bring the Hawks back to even.

Shortly after, Humber continued to attack, when Aziah Reid was brought down in the box for a penalty kick. Hoilett converted the shot past a diving Sheridan keeper, giving the Hawks a 2-1 after 30 minutes of action.

Emotions began to run high and in the 30th minute, Cody Green was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the match.

Despite playing undermanned, the Hawks outshot Sheridan 10-2 in the first half.

Sheridan turned up the pressure in the second half, taking over possession and outshooting the Hawks.

In the 68th minute, the Bruins scored on a penalty kick to even the score at two.

In injury time, the Bruins were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. A deep shot looked like it may find the back of the net but defender Michael Fayehun made a sprawling kick save to keep the match tied.
