HAWKS SET TO HIT ROAD THIS WEEKEND LOOKING TO STAY UNDEFEATED

The Humber Hawks Men's Basketball Team will look to continue their hot start to the season this Saturday when they travel to Windsor to take on the St. Clair Saints.

The Hawks have kicked their season off with four straight wins, and the blue and gold have looked downright dominant for much of the early season stretch. Humber has won by an average of thirty points, and in a doubleheader this past weekend beat Cambrian by a combined 74. The team's early success has been largely due to their dominance on the boards, where the Hawks have outrebounded opponents by nearly twenty rebounds a game; the team has been especially dominant on the offensive end, averaging eighteen offensive rebounds a game. Leading the way have been 6'10" centre Vule Grujic and swingman Chad Bewley, who have combined for thirteen boards a game while providing solid low post defense.

Humber's ball movement, which has resulted in great looks all season, has also been a crucial part of the squad's hot start. While opponents have shot just 34 from the field, the Hawks have put up a blistering 50 percent from the floor and shot nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc. Eight players are currently shooting fifty percent or better, with forward Tyrone Dickson, wing Brayden Gohn and Kenny Ejim all over sixty percent. The ball movement has also led to solid assist numbers, with the team putting up thirty-one helpers a game, twelve more than opponents.

The trio of Gibson Efuful, Chad Bewley and Matthew Bukovec have each averaged double figures and shot at least 56 percent, leading the way for what has been the OCAA's highest scoring outfit thus far. The Hawks scoring has been incredibly balanced, with nine players averaging over seven points a game; the team's ability to hurt you from any position on the court have made them nearly unguardable when firing on all cylinders. Bukovec has shot a blistering 69.2 percent from behind the three point line, and combined with second-year guard Junior Davis' 55 percent from three Humber's ability to space the court has made it very difficult for opponents to pack the paint.

The Saints should pose a tough test for Humber, as the two split a pair last year and St. Clair is a traditionally tough home team, having taken their home opener over Lambton. Opening tip is set for 8pm in Windsor, stay tuned for updates throughout the night.
