KiTCHENER, Ont – The Humber softball team (13-7, 3rd OCAA) concluded its road schedule Friday evening with a doubleheader sweep of Conestoga (6-12, 5th OCAA). Humber won game one, 16-2, collecting 20 hits along the way. In the game two 7-0 victory, senior Elisa Gregoris drove in her 30th RBI of the season – a new OCAA single-season record.

Game One: Humber 16, Conestoga 2
Game one saw Rachel Matheson-Green take the mound for the Hawks. She was smooth sailing through five innings, giving up three hits, allowing one earned run.

Offensively, the Hawks exploded with six players collecting one or more hits in the game.

The difference maker in the 16-run game was yet again fifth-year, Elisa Gregoris, who lit up the scoreboard with a 5-RBI performance.

Meagan Muir shut down the Condors in the sixth inning, only allowing one hit, while Kadyn Wotton didn't allow a hit to end the game.

Brooke Billings of Conestoga was handed her sixth loss of the season, now sitting at 2-6. Rachel Matheson-Green picked up the win to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Game Two: Humber 7, Conestoga 0
In game two, Humber's offensive was again on fire, scoring seven runs on ten hits. The Hawks looked to Bree Donaldson again to get them through the Condor's lineup one time and she did just that, only giving up two hits and zero runs.

The big moment in this game was when Aaliyah Davidson and Bonnie Gillingham were on first and second with Elisa Gregoris up to bat. Gregoris needed two RBI to beat the OCAA single-season RBI record. She surely did not disappoint as she ripped a double down the left field line, scoring both Davidson and Gillingham to make the record her own.

Myranda Pierson came into the game in the fourth inning to inevitably close the game by not surrendering a hit to the Condors lineup.

Conestoga's Jennifer Flanagan was tagged with her third loss of the season, falling to 1-3. Pierson picked up another win to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Game Notes

  • Humber has recorded three 20-hit performances during the Duaine Bowles era, the last happening on Oct. 1, 2016, in a 16-3 victory at Mohawk.
  • Elisa Gregoris broke Humber Hall of Famer Jessica O'Quinn's RBI record of 29 set in 2012. Gregoris needs one more RBI to become the first Humber player to record 100 career RBI.
  • Myranda Pierson has thrown 22.1 innings without allowing run over her last five appearances. During that span, she has lowered her ERA to a league-low 1.55.
  • Humber's team batting of .351 is the top mark in the OCAA.
