ETOBICOKE, Ont – The Humber softball team (11-7, 4th OCAA) split a pair of games against Durham (14-6, 2nd OCAA), falling 11-3 in the first game of the doubleheader before earning a 3-2 walk-off victory in the second game. Senior Elisa Gregoris was the offensive hero for Humber, going a combined 5-for-7 with two RBI in the two games. Humber pitcher Myranda Pierson had another strong outing in the circle, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, while striking out three.
Game One: Durham 11, Humber 3
Humber's defensive issues from Saturday carried over to game one, allowing Durham to score three unearned runs through the first four innings. The Lords pushed six across the board in the final two frames, taking an 11-run lead into the home-half of the seventh.
Aaliyah Davidson collected her second hit of the night, driving in Alexa Vassos and Terah Camilleri. Bonnie Gillingham followed with an RBI single but that would be all Humber could get off Durham ace Ashley Black who picked up her eighth win of the season.
Vassos led the team offensively, recording her second three-hit game of the season.
Humber opened five-of-seven innings with its leadoff hitter reaching, but the Hawks finished the game hitting just three-of-15 (.200) with runners in scoring position.
Game Two: Humber 3, Durham 2
Durham jumped on the board early in game two, scoring two first-inning runs. This time Humber was quick to respond when Elisa Gregoris crushed an RBI double to score Alexa Vassos.
With two outs in the sixth inning, Gregoris struck again. The OCAA RBI leader drove Emily Glendinning's pitch back up the middle to score Vassos from third to tie the game.
Not wanting to head to extra innings, Humber hit queen Bonnie Gillingham led off the seventh with a triple to deep centre field. With Kate Kostuch at the plate, head coach Duaine Bowles called for a suicide squeeze. Kostuch dropped down the bunt, and pinch runner Hannah Koziolek sprinted home to win the game.
Pitcher Myranda Pierson picked up her fifth win of the season and has gone three straight games without allowing an earned run.

Humber will conclude the road portion of its schedule on Oct. 5 with a doubleheader against Conestoga (6-10, 5th OCAA). Game one is scheduled for 6 p.m.
