HAWKS UNDEFEATED IN OPENING WEEKEND WITH SWEEP OF MOHAWK

HAMILTON, ON: The Humber Hawks women's softball team have burst out of the blocks, as they have run their record to 4-0 after a road sweep over the Mohawk Mountaineers in Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.

Humber took game one by a score of 14-5, and then completed the perfect afternoon with a 9-1 win.

This match-up was circled on the Hawks schedule, as it was this same Mountaineer squad that knocked Humber out of a podium spot last season.

GAME 1: HUMBER HAWKS 14 VS MOHAWK MOUNTAINEERS 5

The Hawks flexed their muscles in this affair, putting up a season high fourteen runs, allowing veteran Rachel Matheson-Green a lot of breathing room on the mound. Green has recorded a pretty good weekend herself, with back-to-back wins, to move to 2-0 on the season.

GAME 2: HUMBER HAWKS 9 VS MOHAWK MOUNTAINEERS 1

It was close to perfection for Humber in game two. They combined a solid offensive showing, with a fine pitching performance from fifth-year standout Bree Donaldson. Donaldson pitched a complete game for the win, her first of the season.

WHATS NEXT

Humber will travel to Oshawa on Wednesday to take on the OCAA champion Durham Lords. Game times are set for 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
