HAWKS TO PLAY UNUSUAL DOUBLE DIP ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

HAWKS TO PLAY UNUSUAL DOUBLE DIP ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team, just off an impressive sweep of the powerful Fanshawe Falcons this past weekend on home turf, will entertain the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night for one of the most unusual doubleheaders your will encounter.

The two teams will meet at 6:00 pm to complete a game that was suspended due to permit issues on the opening day of the season. The game sits at 1-1, and is heading into extra innings. The teams tried to get this game in last week at George Brown, but weather washed that attempt away. Although the game will be played at the Hawks home park, it will be George Brown's home game. Humber is coming to bat to start the top of the eighth.

The second game is slotted in the same spot it was when the OCAA schedule was released months ago. Humber will host the Huskies and be the home team for a scheduled 7:00 pm start.

By way of their three consecutive wins, the Hawks are starting to move up in the standings. They have evened their record at five wins and five losses, and will be looking to jump on the positive side of the .500 mark. George Brown checks in with a league worst record of no wins and ten losses.

Andrew Thomson of the Hawks comes in as the hottest hitter for the Hawks, he went four for seven, with five RBI's in a sweep over Fanshawe this past weekend. He also hit the very rare "walk-off" grand slam to win game one. Four Hawks have had great starts and all have averages over the .400 mark, led by Mitchell Wilbur's mark of .471.

Pitching has been the key for the Hawks. Freshman Rory Pollard leads the way with a 2-0 record and a miniscule ERA of 0.94.

It is important for the Hawks to strike early in extra innings and try to secure a game one win, and then follow up to complete the sweep. Losing to a team below them in the standings would certainly hurt their play-off push and final league standing.
