Morgan, Gyles Earn Humber Student-Athlete of the Week Honours

ETOBICOKE – Senior's Jahnae Gyles and Jaylan Morgan have earned Humber Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honours for the week of Jan. 20 to Jan. 26.

Humber women's basketball played two games in four days, and senior guard Jahnae Gyles led the program with 46 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists.

Against Fanshawe, the Mississauga native dropped a season-high 31 points - including five triples - on 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) shooting from the floor. Her fourth three-pointer of the game moved her into second-place on Humber's all-time three-pointers made list.

In 50 regular-season games with Humber, Gyles has 670 career points and currently sits sixth all-time in scoring for the Hawks.

Jaylan Morgan had a monster week for Humber basketball, helping the Hawks extend their win streak to 11 games with victories over Mohawk and No. 14 Fanshawe. In the wins, Morgan recorded a team-best 64 points on 25-of-35 (71.4 percent) shooting from the floor.

In Humber's 114-100 win over Mohawk, the Brampton native dropped a career-high 40 points, joining Dino Tengalia (1977-80) and George McNeil (1984-88) as the only Humber players to score 40-plus in a game.
