Dei Baning, Pierson Earn Humber Student-Athlete of the Week Honours

ETOBICOKE – Softball pitcher Myranda Pierson and baseball outfielder Dennis Dei Baning have earned Humber Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honours for the week of Oct. 7 to Oct. 14.

On Seniors Night, Myranda Pierson made the final start of her career at Connorvale Park. In front of family and friends, the fifth-year starter made history, throwing the first perfect game in program history. Pierson, the author of two previous no-hitters, struck out 12 Seneca hitters over five innings of work.

Pierson concludes her Humber career as the all-time leader in wins (34), innings pitched (282.2), and strikeouts (174).

Dennis helped Humber baseball clinch its second consecutive regular-season pennant. The fourth-year outfielder played in all four games last week, finishing with a slash line of .400/.538/1.200.

Looking to clinch the division against George Brown, the Hawks were trailing by two with five outs left in the game. Dei Banning hit his second homer of the week, a two-run shot to tie the game. In his third season with Humber, Dei Baning has tied Brian MacDonald with the most home runs in program history.
