HAWKS RUN WELL AT LAST TEST BEFORE PROVINCIALS BUT FAIL TO FIND PODIUM AGAIN

SCARBOROUGH, Ont: An outstanding performance today by the Humber Hawks Men's and Women's Cross Country teams, both finishing fourth at the Centennial Invitational. The Centennial Invitational was the last meet of the season before the Hawks return to the start line for the 2018-19 OCAA Cross Country Championship host by Centennial College, Saturday October 27.

During the women's race, All-Canadian Kaitlin Shuvera powered her way to the top, finishing in sixth place. Kayleigh Bush was the second Hawk to cross the finish line, following Ana Jaimes, Sue Yemen and Patricia Rothenburg. Just five points away from capturing third place. Going into provincials the Hawks will be keeping their eyes out for top competitors; Fanshawe Falcons, Laurier and the Mohawk Mountaineers.

The men's team just one point away from finishing third and seven points away from coming in second, finished fourth today at Centennial. Cole Czuchnicki took no time getting himself to the front of pack, finishing in tenth place. Aaron Veestra, was next to cross the finish line for the Hawks, and not far behind him was Joshua Heuving, paired with Graiden Maynard. Zac Nixon, Chris Tomlinson and Mohammed were the next athletes to cross the finish line for the Hawks.

What's next?

In preparation for provincial championships the Hawks will be taking next weekend off.
