HAMILTON – The Humber women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit but ultimately fell short in a five-set loss to Mohawk (4-0, 2nd West). The Hawks were handed their first loss of the season by set scores of 15-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, and 16-18.

Mohawk was quick to put pressure on the Humber, who had a slow start entering its second league game this season. Humber was quickly forced to rally from behind in the first two sets of the match, showing intensity and determination as they continued to trail behind the host team. Unable to rally from behind, the Hawks dropped the first two sets of the match.

The third and fourth set showed a different side of the Humber Hawks, as second-year left side Hayley Henderson set a positive tone early on in both sets for her team. The Hawks seemed to shift the gym's energy in their favour as they began putting pressure on the Mountaineers. With a defensive display by middle Shiann Williams and an offensive show by Hannah Petcoff, Humber was able to win both sets and tie the match at two.

Fans from both teams kept the gym loud and energetic throughout the final set, as Humber was forced to bring their A-game in order to complete the 0-2 comeback against the Mountaineers. The Hawks were beginning to fall behind before Hayley Henderson took the service line, where she completed a five-point run to earn a 10-8 lead. The gym was radiating with energy as the teams continued to fight until a tied score of 16-16, where Humber fell just short of a victory.

Shiann Williams finished with a team-high 18 points, including nine stuffed blocks.
