HAWKS 3-0 WIN OVER CAMBRIAN COMPLETES SWEEP OF THE NORTH

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks Women's Volleyball team hit the court on January 27^th to compete in their second game of the weekend. In this match, the Hawks took on Sudbury's Cambrian College, and came away with a disciplined three set win. 

Aideena Wickstrom fired up the first set of the match with a quick kill from the middle position, effectively showcasing Humber's dominance on the court. This success followed the Hawks as Emma Heeney hit the service line and nailed down a 5 point run. Emma's serves forced the Cambrian head coach to call the first timeout of the match at 11-6. Coming out of this timeout, Humber continued to soar above their opponents in points. A second timeout was called by Cambrian at 16-9, but this did not pause the Hawks from continuing to widen their lead. Sally Nyguyen ended off the set with a kill from the right side of the court. The final score was 25-16. 

In the second set, Cambrian began to fight back, causing the Hawks to struggle. With Humber in the lead, the Golden Shield trailed just a point behind. Middles Rossella Falcomer and Aideena Wickstrom made trouble for Cambrian as they both continued to nail down multiple kills. Both teams remained neck to neck throughout the majority of the match, until Emma Heeney hit the service line once again, and proceeded to go on another run. This run included 6 overall points, with two being aces. Danae Campana continued Humber's success on the base line, as she was substituted in and earned two back to back aces, finishing off the set. The final score was 25-15. 

Opening the final set, Sally Nyguyen nailed down two left side kills in a row. From this, the Humber Hawks went back and forth with the Golden Shields. As either team failed to go on a run of more than three points, both teams stayed within reach of each other. This continued until Julia Watson hit the front court and nailed down two immediate kills. At this point, Cambrian had called a time out at 16-12 to try and stop the Hawk's momentum. This failed to work though, as Aideena Wickstrom hit the service line and widened Humber's lead with a four point run. Now 23-18, Danae Campana was subbed in to serve. This put Cambrian's defense in trouble, as they were unable to efficiently return the ball. The game was ended with a middle kill by Rossella Falcomer. The final score was 25-20. 

The leading scorer of the match was Julia Watson, with 8 kills and 3 digs. Aideena Wickstrom was titled Hawk Nation Player of the Game, with 5 kills and 2 service aces.
