HAWKS HEAT IT UP INSIDE WITH STRAIGHT SET ROAD WIN AT CONESTOGA

KITCHENER, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team extended their regular season record to 10-3 by way of a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-15) win in Kitchener over the Conestoga Condors.

Opening the match, the Humber Hawks had trouble getting on their feet. Making minor errors, the Hawks allowed the Condors to lead them during the first 10 points. After 10-11 though, Humber kicked their gameplay into high gear, going on a five point streak. This forced the Condors into the first timeout of the match at 15-11. Coming out of this, the Hawks continued to soar higher then the Condors quickly earning themselves a 10 point lead. A second time out was called after an electric kill by second year middle Trinity Lougheed, which took all of Conestoga's momentum away. The Condors pushed to lessen their deficit, but fell short to Humber's "A" game. The Hawks finalized the first set at 25-15.

Unlike the first set, the Hawks came out firing in the second. Staying disciplined during kill after kill, the Hawks left little room for the Condors to make mistakes. Conestoga's head coach called a quick time out at 7-3 to try and stop the Hawks before they got too far out of reach. This failed to work though, as the Hawks re-entered the court and continued to play at a high standard. Sally Nguyen hyped up the Hawk bench as she flew out of right side with an incredible kill. This roll continued as Trinity Lougheed nailed down multiple kills from the middle position. Humber's lead continued to grow as they played their defensive and offensive game plan to a "T". The Condors were keeping up with the Hawks defensively, flying across the court and picking up almost every ball. This effort prevailed useless though, as the Hawks finished the set off at 25-16

The final set mimicked the second, as the Hawks entered the court fired up and ready to play. With a court full of rookies, the Hawks still managed to play at the same level as previously. Sally Nguyen commanded the left side of the court for the set, with a powerful swing which consistently put Conestoga in trouble. Humber continued to punctuate on their lead as they pulled further and further away from the Condors. The set closed after an intense net rally with multiple tips and blocks. The final score was 25-19

Lead scorers in this match were Danielle Miles and Julia Watson with 8 kills each. Captain Kyla Wilkins continues to extend Humber's all time dig record as she earned six digs against Conestoga. This raises her dig count to 165 this season and 577 overall.
