FULL TEAM EFFORT LEADS HAWKS TO WIN IN LAST GAME OF FIRST HALF

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks (7-2, 3rd West) rolled through a multitude of line-ups on their way to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-19) home win over the Conestoga Condors (1-8, 9th West). 

Setter Alex Bartman opened the first set of the match with two direct aces. Following this, Alex Krstonosic threw up a massive block against the Condors, then hit the service line to start a wild eight point serving run. With the Condors unable to return the Hawks aggressive serves, they quickly went into a nine point deficit. The Condors called a timeout at 11-2 to try and get their heads back into the game. Conestoga stayed beneath the Hawks as they were unable to end the rallies positively. Alex Bartman, currently second in the OCAA for assists per set, helped carry the Hawks to victory through perfect setting and defensive play. The Hawks finished the first set quickly, at 25-13.

The second set started slower for the Hawks, as they gave the rival birds an early 2-0 lead. They changed this quickly though, as outside hitter Hayley Henderson hit the service line and rocketed the Hawks into a four point lead. Conestoga's head coach called a quick time out to try and stop the Hawks before they got too far out of grasp. This failed to work though, as Hayley Henderson returned to the back of the court and nailed down another four points, stretching their lead to 11-3. Julia Watson and Olivia Foley set an outside block, which gave the Condors outside hitter nowhere to swing except into the block. Running out of options, the Condors began to fall apart offensively. Defensively though, the Condors were flying across the court, picking up almost every ball. This was not enough though, as they were unable to finish any of the rallies. The Hawks finished off the second set with a 25-17 victory.

Determined to keep the game going, the Conestoga Condors started the third set aggressively. Quickly earning themselves a three point lead, the Condors had the Hawks far in their rear view mirror. Humber continued to trail behind Conestoga as they started to slack on their defensive plays. Aided by Emma Heeney on the service line, the Hawks began to make their comeback. Danielle Miles flew from the outside position and spiked the ball directly onto Conestoga's court, making the placing the Hawks into the lead at 12-11. Humber continued to build on their lead as they pulled further and further away from the Condors. At 20-16. The Condors called a time out to try and revive themselves within the set. This did not work, as the Hawks continued to stay disciplined and rise above their opponents. Danielle Miles finished off the game with an outside kill at 25-19.

The leading scorers from Humber were Emma Heeney and Danielle Miles with four kills each. The Humber Hawk Nation player of the game was first year setter/libero, Lauren Schneider with seven digs. Captain Kyla Wilkins continues to extend Humber's all time dig record as she earned nine digs against Conestoga. This raises her dig count to 115 this season and 527 overall.

The Humber Hawks will be on Christmas break until the startup of the 2019 season on January 10^th against Sheridan College.
