HAWKS CLOSE OUT EASTERN EXHIBITION SWING WITH BACK-TO-BACK WINS

HALIFAX, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team swept two matches on Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) in Halifax.

The first was a 3-1 win over Mount Allison University, and that was followed by a 3-0 victory over the host MSVU Mystics.

GAME 1: Hawks 3 vs Mount Allison University 1

The Hawks came out strong in the beginning of their game against the Mount Allison Mounties as they quickly earned themselves a huge lead. With the Mounties trailing behind them, the Hawks held down their side of the court and eased through the first two sets, winning 25-17 and 25-18

As the third set began, both teams traded the lead back and forth. The Hawks battled hard until the final points of the set, when the Mounties snuck up from behind them and won the set 25-23.

In the fourth set, the Hawks buckled down, determined to finish the game. Creating a four point separation between them and the Mounties, the women's team swung hard and finished off their opponents at 25-18

GAME 2: Hawks 3 vs MSVU 0

In their second game against MSVU this weekend , the Hawks arguably played their best game of their Nova Scotia trip. As they came onto the court aggressive and ready to play, they led the first set all the way to the finish line with the Mystics trailing behind. As humber refused to give up their lead, they held their ground and finished the set off 25-23.

The second and third sets mimicked the first as the Hawks stayed in the lead for the majority of the matches. As the women stayed in sync and held their side of the court down, they crushed the Mystics in the final two sets, winning 25-21 and 25-19.

Humber will return home on Sunday, and will take to the court next on October 11/18 in a friendly at home against the Seneca Sting to complete their pre-season sschedule.
