MANNELLA COMMITS TO HUMBER VOLLEYBALL

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks women's volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of Karlee Mannella for the upcoming 2018-19 varsity season, announced head coach Chris Wilkins.

Manella, a five-foot-eleven middle blocker from Aurora, Ont., joins the Hawks after competing for the Scarborough Titans of the OVA.

"Karlee is the type of player coaches love to work with," said Coach Wilkins, who has captured 13 provincial titles in 17 years. "She is already an impact player for her Titans club, which is one of the top teams in Ontario. It will be exciting to watch Karlee grow over the next four years."

A graduate of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School, Manella and the Mustangs captured three YRAA championships, finishing fourth at the OFSAA girls' triple-A championship in 2017.

Manella has enrolled in the Early Childhood Studies program, a four-year program at the University of Guelph-Humber.

"Guelph-Humber offers me the best program for my choice of career," said Manella when asked why she chose her program. "It provides me with both theory and practical experience, which will better prepare me for my career."

Manella will join incoming recruit Danae Campana for the 2018-19 varsity year, as the Hawks look to capture their 12th consecutive provincial title. Last season, Humber finished 26-0 in OCAA play, extending its conference win streak to 152 straight matches.
