DEFENDING PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS SIGN DANAE CAMPANA

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks women's volleyball program – winners of 11 consecutive provincial titles – have signed libero Danae Campana for the upcoming 2018-19 volleyball season, announced head coach Chris Wilkins.

"Danae is a defensive specialist that plays at a high level for Leaside Volleyball Club," said Coach Wilkins, who in 17 seasons owns a 341-43 career record at Humber. "She has received some great coaching and playing experience from an excellent club."

Campana has been playing volleyball at a competitive level for nine years, accumulating major awards along the way. A few of her accolades include a provincial championship, national silver medal, OVA all-star, and MVP of the senior girls' volleyball team at Michael Power St. Joseph high school.

"I'm excited to see her take control of the court and strengthen our overall team defence," added Coach Wilkins. "She is a very enthusiastic player that you can see loves the game and loves to be part of a team atmosphere."

No stranger to Humber volleyball, Campana was coached by OCAA all-star Devan O'Connor when she played for the 16U Pakmen Volleyball club.

Campana will be attending Humber College in September after enrolling in the Fitness and Health program.

"I chose Humber College because of the fitness program, the resources, and the amazing volleyball program," Campana said. "Eventually, I would like to transfer into the kinesiology program at the University of Guelph-Humber."

Under Coach Wilkins, the Hawks have won an OCAA record 152 consecutive OCAA regular and postseason matches, a streak that stretches across eight seasons.
