HAWKS ROLL TO SEVENTEENTH STRAIGHT REGULAR SEASON WIN

KITCHENER, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (17-0, 1st West), the number two ranked team in the country, swept away the Conestoga Condors (3-14, 9th West) in three straight (25-14, 25-16, 25-15) and are just a single game away from the end of the regular season and the start of the 2017 OCAA Championship tournament.

Humber ran out to a big lead, and rode that wave to an easy 25-14 first set win. Veteran middle Alexandra Newman nailed six kills in the set. Devan O'Connor also had six points, based on four kills and two aces.

Emma Heeney exploded in the second set, and elevated her kill total in the match to 7. With the set winner, Newman raised her kill total to eight after two sets. Coach Wilkins went to the bench in the second, and got some solid play from his bench. Hawks win set number two by a score of 25-16.

The third and final set saw the home team put up the best battle of the night, and led the match as it came to the 15 point mark, much on the heels of outside hitter Tori Kozak. Brynne Spence-Coleman was the star for the Hawks in this set, and she ended up with 9 kills on the night. Coleman was also on the service line for an 11-0 run to end the set and match. The final set was 25-15, for the Hawks.

Coleman and Heeney topped the Hawks with nine kills each.

With the win, Hawks head coach has raised his career total to 312 wins, and a tie with his brother Wayne for second all-time at Humber – pending the men's volleyball game to come later this evening.

Humber will complete the regular season on Wednesday, February 15, as the travel to Hamilton to play the Mohawk Mountaineers.
