No. 2 HAWKS FINISH HOME STAND WITH 3-0 WIN OVER SAINTS

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The no. 2 Humber Hawks (8-0, 1st West) women's volleyball team extended their OCAA win streak to 117 games Sunday afternoon with a three set sweep over the St. Clair Saints (7-2, 3rd West). The final scores being 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17.

The match was important for both sides with the two teams tied for first place coming into Sunday.

Prior to Sundays pivotal first place matchup, Humber has dominated St. Clair going a perfect 8-0 over their last eight, dropping only two sets.  As a team Humber hit .324 and was able to hold the Saints to .017.

From the beginning of the match the Hawks took complete control, opening with a few big blocks and kills, which immediately set the tone for the day. The team finished with nine blocks on the afternoon.

Humber's Devan O'Connor (Milton) continued her great play this season, leading her team with 13 points (10 kills, three aces) on the afternoon. The second-year left-side was recently named both CCAA and OCAA player of the week.

First-year outside hitter Breanna Golding (Pickering), who is making a strong case for rookie of the year, finished the day with 11 points (six kills, one ace, four blocks).

Player of the game went to third-year setter Gabie Miletic (Windsor) who finished the match with 24 assists.

The Hawks next match is on Wednesday when they travel to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals (3-5, 5th West) in the teams last game before the Christmas break.
