No. 2 HAWKS SET FOR THURSDAY NIGHT CLASH WITH MOHAWK

ETOBICOKE, Ont – The no. 2 program in the country returns home to the Humber Athletic Centre Thursday evening to play the red hot Mohawk Mountaineers (5-2, 4^th West).

After losing two consecutive matches, the Mountaineers have won four straight, losing only three sets during that streak.  Their latest win came at home against Redeemer (3-4, 6^th West), a 3-1 victory that saw Yvonne Mann finish with a game-high 16 points. Kirsten Bialachowski leads Mohawk with 60 kills, while Alessandra Assaf has 90 digs and Amanda Kuiper has 115 assists.

The Hawks (6-0, 1^st West) are off to their best start since 2014, having only lost one set so far this season.  Through six matches Humber is leading the league in service aces (3.68) and points-per-set (16.0).

With a straight set sweep over the Sheridan Bruins (5-3, 5^th West) in their last home match, the Hawks extended their win-streak at the Humber Athletic Centre to 90 consecutive matches.  Their last home loss was to the Nipissing Lakers, a 3-1 defeat back in February of 2007.

Over their last eight meetings, the Hawks are 8-0 against Mohawk, winning 24 of 25 sets.  The last time these programs met, the Hawks came away with a straight set sweep behind a match-high 15 points for All-Canadian Thalia Hanniman.  Elizabeth Deakin-Poot (Georgetown) finished with eight points, including three service aces.

During Humber's last match, fifth-year middle Alexandra Newman (Kitchener) recorded two blocks, moving her past assistant coach Rachel Dubbeldam for fourth all-time with 92 career blocks.
