HAWKS DOMINATE IN WIN OVER SHERIDAN

ETOBICOKE, ONT: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball (4-0, 4th West) team continued their hot start to the season when they defeated the Sheridan Bruins (4-2, 3rd West) 3-0 Thursday night at the Hawks nest.

The game for the most part was all Humber from the start to the end. The Hawks hit .289 as a team, while holding their Sheridan to a mere .067.

For a majority of the match, the only time the Bruins were able to get points is when Humber gave it to them by missing their spots or hitting out of bounds.

It was second-year outside hitter Devan O'Connor (Milton) who led the way for the Hawks. She finished the match hitting .500 with a game-high 10 kills, one kill shy of her career-high 11. In total she finished with a career best 14 points. She was named 'Hawks Nation' player of the game.

Libero Kyla Wilkins (Brampton) finished with a season-high 11 digs and setter Gabie Miletic (Windsor) finished with 16 assists.

First-year outside hitter Breanna Golding (Pickering) continued her strong play this season as well. She finished with a team leading two blocks while tying O'Connor with a game-high 14 points. Golding at one point also served for 10 straight points.

The Hawks are yet to lose a set this season, a trend that has carried over since January 20 of last year.

With the win the Hawks now improve to 4-0 on the season and sit tied for second place in points with a few games in hand on first place St. Clair.

The Hawks' next match will be on the road in a rematch of last season's OCAA gold medal game with the Niagara Knights (5-0, 2nd West) at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Wednesday, November 23.  First serve is set for 6 p.m.
