HAWKS ON THE ROAD TO FACE MOHAWK

HAWKS ON THE ROAD TO FACE MOHAWK

After winning their fourth straight match to begin the 2015-16 OCAA regular season, the Humber Hawks will be headed out on the road to play the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday, November 14.  This will be the first matchup between these two programs this season.

The Hawks are coming off a straight set sweep of the Fanshawe Falcons last weekend and are looking to extend their four-game winning streak against a tough Mohawk team.  2014-15 CCAA All-Canadian Thalia Hanniman led all players in scoring.  The fifth-year outside hitter from Pembroke filled the stat sheet, recording nine kills, three aces, two stuff blocks, and six digs.

At 4-0, the Hawks are now the only undefeated team in the West Division, while Canadore and Durham remain undefeated in the East Division.  As the reigning OCAA champions, the Hawks know they will have a target on their backs for the rest of the season.

Mohawk is coming off a loss against the St. Clair Saints and currently has a 2-2 record, good enough for fifth-place in the standings.  However, before the Hawks and Mountaineers do battle, Mohawk will have a road game against the Sheridan Bruins.

It's been almost a full calendar year since these two teams competed at the Mohawk Athletic Centre and the Hawks left victorious after winning 3-1.  Playing in her first season with Humber then, Kelsey Kovar finished the match with 10 points, the beginning of a streak that saw her record double-digit points in nine straight matches.
